Poem: “Close Up in Mist”

Close up in mist

It was too much

For a mortal to bear

The monster’s face

Bristling with spines

Worse than a porcupine.

The yellow fangs

Sharp & poisonous

Flecked with saliva

Multi-hued evil

With eyes bright orange

With pupils red—

How could it live

With so much dread

Day & night

Dragging around

And at my mirror

In a single bound.
