Poem: “That Was You”

That was you

Turning in the light

Looking innocent

With head aslant

Long legs wide

High heels

Silk bare back gown

Slit up the thigh—

Your lovely rear

Raised in tense

Invitation to a door

Under a window

World sealed out

A wilted plant

An enamel table

A bird startles us

At fever pitch.
